About Us
who we are
Canterbury Fellowship is a community of young adults dedicated to exploring and deepening our faith together. While our roots are in the Episcopal tradition, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us on this journey. We are a community of seekers, new believers, and lifelong Christians. For us, the deep questions about life, death, and God are not only welcome but encouraged. We seek to encounter and embody God’s love - sharing the Good News to Laramie and living out our faith in meaningful ways, especially by building community, prayer, and service to others.

We gather Tuesday evenings to share a meal and to worship God through conversation, prayer, song, and the practice of hospitality. Many of us attend church on Sundays at St. Matthew's Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Laramie. About once a month, we meet at other times for service projects, game nights, hikes, and so much more! We are committed to the belief that God loves everyone, no exceptions. All of us are made in God's image, our diversity reflects God's universal love. People of all genders, sexual orientations, and backgrounds are welcome at Canterbury Fellowship. We hope that you'll join us!
We believe there is One God who creates all things, redeems us from sin and death, and renews us as the Children of God. We promise to follow Jesus Christ as the Messiah, who proclaimed God's kingdom. Through his life, death, and resurrection he defeated death, opened the way to eternal life, and reconciled all things to God. We trust in the Holy Spirit, who is God at work now in the world, the church, and our lives.
We believe the mission of our church is restoration of all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. Our restoration is embodied through prayer and worship, proclaiming the Gospel, and promoting justice, peace, and love.
God's love is reflected to us through actions called sacraments. Baptism, the church's rite of initiation, unites us to Christ and makes us inheritors of God's kingdom. Eucharist (also called the mass, communion, or the Lord's Supper), is the meal Jesus taught his disciples to celebrate together. Through bread and wine, we believe that Christ is made truly present. All are welcome to receive communion at Canterbury Fellowship!

We are part of a Christian denomination known as The Episcopal Church. We incorporate aspects of the Roman Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, and Protestant traditions. Along with other members of the global network of churches known as the Anglican Communion, we trace our historical roots to the Church of England and 16th century Reformation.

A metaphor for our view of faith is sometimes called the three-legged stool. We use (1) scripture, (2) tradition, and (3) reason to interpret what we believe about God and the movement Jesus started to spread God’s message of love and reconciliation.

Game Nights
Canterbury House is always open as a third space for students. With a huge board game collection, you never know when a round of Scrabble, chess, or Catan will break out. (Giant Jenga is always a crowd favorite, too)
Service Projects
From river cleanups and food pantry drives to supporting our elders and raising funds for the Laramie Soup Kitchen, we're always finding new ways to serve our community.

Our Chaplain
Rev'd Allen Doyle
Allen is originally from Tennessee, but has called Wyoming home since 2020. He serves as the Director of Campus Ministry for the Episcopal Church in Wyoming, based out of Canterbury Fellowship in Laramie. Before this role he served as the Founding Director of On Sacred Ground - Wyoming Service Corps, and was also the Youth Coordinator for the Episcopal Church in Wyoming. Occasionally, Allen teaches Religion Classes at the University of Wyoming. โ

When Allen isn't at Canterbury or St. Matthew's Cathedral, you could find him in the mountains, hanging out with friends, making music, or most likely at Taco Bell!
Our Campus Ministry Intern
Ethan Winstead
Ethan graduated from UW in 2026 with a BSB in Management and a BA in Religious Studies. He was born in Virginia, but grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has called Laramie home since 2022. Ethan joined the Canterbury staff for the 2026-2027 academic year as a campus ministry intern and is incredibly excited to work with students and serve the faith community that has meant so much to him! Previously, Ethan has worked as a ranch hand, electrician, farming intern, camp counselor, and grocery store clerk. He loves sharing the love of God with others through deep conversation, mutual learning, prayer, and song (although he's still working on his singing!). Ethan also loves God's creation and thinks Laramie is a pretty amazing part of it, so when's he's not around Canterbury you can usually find him outside or cooking a meal with friends.

Our House
Canterbury House is a vibrant spiritual hub in Laramie, Wyoming, welcoming individuals from all faith backgrounds to explore and deepen their spirituality. We offer opportunities for growth through our programming, community partnerships, and special events. In addition to Canterbury Fellowship (campus ministry), the house is shared weekly with the Laramie Meditation Group, and the Laramie Friends Meeting (Quakers).

As a safe space, we provide free meals, snacks, laundry facilities, and study areas, along with a relaxed environment for socializing, cooking, playing games, or unwinding by the fire. The Prayer Fence serves as a symbol of our inclusive spirituality, inviting all to leave a prayer and find solace.

Owned by the Episcopal Church in Wyoming, Canterbury House is a gift to the community. Our resident chaplain offers spiritual guidance and support to everyone, regardless of their background. We hope to be a place where all can find nourishment for their body, mind, and soul.
